L’angolo della Luna (The Moon’s corner) is a picturesque country cottage characterized by water and time, in the middle of green Umbrian hills, overlooking Orvieto and its world famous Cathedral; the town is also well known for other tourist attractions, such as the St. Gallo’s well (better known as St. Patrick’s well), its peculiar main street (il corso) and a lot of charming alleys full of history.
Close to Orvieto we can find Civita di Bagnoreggio (also called “the dying town”, because of a landslide which has transformed the place into a desert); the place can be reached only by means of a long, fascinating bridge. The Bolsena lake is just 12 Km. Far, while other interesting places like the thermal baths of Fonteverde in San Casciano, or the Popes’ baths by Viterbo are just 30 minutes far.
L’angolo della Luna (The Moon’s corner) is in Porano, a medieval village, 450 Meters a.s.l., wher you’ll find an old castle too: the Castel Rubello, which once was an independent municipality, and Villa Paolina, with its wonderful park.
A lot of different, beautiful plants grow inside the park (the main seat of the CNR is actually here too). During the summer a show-jumping competition, an international beauty contest for dogs, and a toys’ exhibition (in August) are housed in this park. I called my house “The Moon’s corner” because I was inspired by the idea of a moon reflected in the water.
I’ve chosen this name in order to give a sense of peace and quiet to all our customers, as well as a feeling of rebirth, regeneration, searching for an inner growth inside of us, and this idea is well linked to the astrological concept of the new moon.
The name “Moon’s corner” is actually connected to quietness and tranquillity too, but it is also linked to the idea of a moon reflected in the water of a pool, and that’s exactly what I was doing while sat by the swimming pool, trying to find a good name for my house: I suddenly looked at the moon reflected in the water, and so I found the name! In my house you’ll find different fundamental aspects of this feeling of peace and relax all around yourself, you’ll feel comfortable, regenerated and cuddled in this atmosphere, mainly inside the house, where you’ll find the right environment, a green corner under the moon, where you can leave all your troubles behind, enjoying the silence and peace of a starry night; you can take long walks in the woods, along the fields, getting in touch with nature...
This romantic idea has suggested me the creation of a small guestbook accessible to all our customers (tell it to the moon, or ask the moon, as you like it), a virtual place where we can exchange messages and feelings, or simply read these considerations, hoping that someone finds them useful, or even curious.
